Need Parsons is seeking a Bridge / Structure Representative to support bridge construction or retrofit projects in California. The successful candidate will supervise bridge construction and/or repair to assure that they are being built in accordance with approved plans and specifications as well as following accepted industry practices and procedures. This position entails overseeing field engineering work including supervising bridge construction inspectors. In addition to managing field engineering activities, you will prepare construction and procurement schedules, conduct subcontract negotiations, and provide technical guidance. This will entail overseeing the sample collection and quality assurance field-controlled tests of construction materials in accordance with California Test Methods (CTMs) or American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) procedures. You will be responsible for performing stress and deflection calculations for false work, temporary shoring, working platforms, temporary supports, etc. You will also review working drawings that may include stress sheets, anchor bolt layouts, shop details, overhead sign structures, fabrication and erection plans, demolition plans, equipment lists, cofferdams, false work, temporary support systems, cast-in-drilled hole pile mitigation, haul bridges, and form-work. In addition, you will provide oversight to bridge deck replacements and rehabilitation, polyester concrete and methacrylate overlays.retaining wall and sound walls construction. Some of your projects may involve providing structural constructability reviews. In this position, your efforts will help ensure health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable regulations set forth by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CAL-OSHA) and as written in the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). You will also assist in the preparation of final as-built plans and reports.
Qualifications:
10 years of relevant resident engineering experience with constructing transportation infrastructure, with the majority of that experience on Caltrans bridge projects
Must have field experience as this is a field engineering role
Capable of performing stress and deflection calculations for false work, temporary shoring, working platforms, temporary supports, etc.
In depth understanding of bridge construction and retrofitting including stress sheets, anchor bolt layouts, overhead sign structures, fabrication and erection plans, demolition plans, equipment cofferdams, false work, temporary support systems, cast-in-drilled hole pile mitigation, haul bridges, and form-work
4-year degree in engineering or construction-related field
