Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer 4\5

This position reports directly to the Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Manager of Long Beach Airplane Systems and is responsible for providing technical analysis to support the development and documentation of thermal environments as part of the system design for post production modifications of 7-series Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) platforms, BCA 7-series Production Programs support (Everett and Renton), as well as Fleet Support activities of McDonnell Douglas Commercial Airplane models. The position mainly involves heat transfer (conduction, convection, & radiation) and air flow analyses primarily for BCA applications. The selected individual should also be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects using Systems Engineering techniques and methods.

Qualified candidate should have significant background, education, and experience in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and air flow analysis. Will lead activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements either through testing or analysis. Must prioritize, delegate, and track performance and documentation of analyses, selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design. Should also be able to train, coach, and mentors others. Will work under minimal/consultative direction.

ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information
Previous experience using Thermal Desktop, SINDA, PATRAN, NASTRAN, JENA, or other meshing tools and network thermal and airflow solvers are preferred. Background in Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Fuel Systems and Propulsion, or other aerospace systems development is desirable.
