Job Description
Manage successful completion of projects within boundaries of quality, time and budget. Based on significant technical expertise, reviews and approves complex design concepts. Provides technical direction to staff. Recognized as expert by peers and others personnel within the business. Display general understanding of theories/practices of a variety of disciplines.

•Manage a variety of complex issues in associated projects, plans, and schedules project implementation. Responsible for defining scope of work for project team.

•Manage, identify, hire, develop and recognize technical staff; the team may include senior level engineers and technicians. Provide technical direction.

•Utilize packaging engineering expertise to manage projects pertaining to packaging such as vial qualifications, packaging automation, and continuous improvement.

•Review and approve technical feasibility of complex design concepts and analysis of technologies that incorporate own area of expertise as well as multiple disciplines.

•Review and analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures. Recommend proposal to management for consideration and allocation of funds. Responsible for

•preparation of project cost estimates; monitors all project expenditures and cost tracking.

•Manage processing of label and component specifications and changes, including validation of these changes if required.

•Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for the staff in accomplishing and documenting projects. Support plant-wide strategic plan programs and activities.

•Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms, etc.) in order to secure project release. This is a ""technical approver"" position.

•Proactively and regularly communicate with regions and plants (directly or through marketing) to update development progress and maintain region support.

•Must be well versed in packaging engineering, filling and lyophilization disciplines (e.g. fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, engineering materials). Must possess knowledge of related disciplines.

•Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and process validation.

•Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

•Ability to design and implement in own area of expertise.

•Be involved in at least one industry interest group.

•Has demonstrated effective supervisory skills. Education and/or experience

•BS in related engineering discipline. 8-10 years of experience. MS in Engineering with 6-8 years of experience.

•Experience in handling multiple projects and leading cross-functional projects teams.

•Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs

•In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work, standing work, and walking around observing conditions in the facility Working Environment

Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.

•No Make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the work environment.

•Must be able to recognize and distinguish among the colors red, yellow and blue

•No contact lenses may be worn in the work environment. No make-up, jewelry, nail polish or artificial nails may be worn in the work environment when applicable.

•Will likely work in a cold, wet environment and climb up and into large processing tanks for cleaning.

•Will be working in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment for cleaning.

•Will work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and celite that may require respiratory protection.

•May be required to work or be assigned to a different shift to meet business needs.

•Must be willing to work off shift hours.

•Must be able to work overtime as required.

•May be required to work in a confined area

•Primarily inside working conditions

•Some clean room and cool/hot storage conditions

•5% travel as applicable
