Job Duties:
Perform all night polysomnographic recordings on patients. Major duties include calibrating equipment, attaching sensors to patients, performing bio-calibration, monitoring laboratory equipment, and observing the patients while they sleep. Make decision to initiate Bi/CPAP titration or other treatment should patient meet lab criteria. Score polysomnographic recordings per week on request. Occasionally work days to perform MSLTs or baby recordings or as requested by Medical Director or Manager as daytime technician performing greater activities related to scoring of records, performing daytime studies, and other functions. Responsible to work weekends or perform tests on inpatients both at Westwood or at Santa Monica Hospitals as needed for Laboratory operations. Job Qualifications:
The Polysomnography Technologist works under the supervision of the Medical Director and Manager. The technologist receives written instructions (Technician Request Form) and/or verbal instructions from the Manager or Medical Director describing the type of studies to be performed that evening for the patients scheduled for sleep studies. The technician should follow Laboratory protocols and policies for emergency situations as well as policies and procedures for reporting of non-emergency situations related to facilities, medical record, engineering, etc. The Technologist will work independently and as a team member to ensure the smooth operation of the Sleep Disorders Center. Required: Certification/ Registered polysomnography Technologist C, current CPR certification required.
