The Sr. Manager of Tax Planning will be responsible for initiating, developing and implementing transactions and programs to reduce the Company’s worldwide tax liability. In addition to working with the global tax group, this position will interface with the international and domestic controller organizations and finance managers located in various countries of operations. The Sr. Manager Tax Planning will also have regular contact with operations teams at the company and may require travel.
Responsibilities:
Lead international tax planning projects.
Initiate, design and implement tax strategies.
Review Company worldwide tax positions, tax programs and structures to minimize tax risk.
Interact with and provide advice to other corporate groups at all levels regarding specific technical matters involving both foreign and domestic taxes.
Participate in feasibility analyses of company projects.
Analyze tax consequences of complex transactions.
Assist in entering new markets.
Perform FIN 48 and FAS 5 tax reserve analyses under GAAP.
Provide advice and manage foreign tax audits and manage tax counsels in order to develop a defense strategy.
Conduct technical tax research to determine the most advantageous tax position available, prepare technical memos and manage and review technical tax advice from external tax counsel.
Review and analyze domestic and foreign court decisions, legislation and administrative regulations to advise management and recommend and implement actions to mitigate or benefit from changes.
Monitor, review and update the tax impact of the company's intercompany pricing arrangements including reviewing and preparing transfer pricing documentation to ensure proper completion and support the company's transfer pricing arrangements.
Prepare and file requests for tax rulings, technical advice or similar matters with the Internal Revenue Service and its foreign counterparts.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
CPA, JD, LLM preferred
2 – 6+ years of international tax planning experience under the laws of foreign countries
5+ years’ experience working in a major corporation, law firm and/or accounting firm
Strong knowledge of international tax
Strong Experience with contracts and agreements
Knowledge of FIN 48 and FAS 5
Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Excel
Strong communication, customer service and team building skills
Fast learner and results orientation
Ability to manage projects and lead and mentor a team
Preferred:
Experience implementing tax structures
Public company, foreign audit management and transfer pricing experience
