Project: Parsons is part of the team retained to design and construct the Foothill Extension that expands the Metro Gold Line light rail approximately 11 miles east of Pasadena to Azusa. It will connect to the downtown areas of Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and Azusa in California. The expansion includes two new tracks for light rail and a third track for freight service. The scope includes completing 6 stations and a heavy maintenance facility as well as widening existing bridges and approximately 14 at-grade crossings with gate protection.
Need: Parsons is in need of a Microstation Designer/Drafter who:
• Performs basic to moderately-difficult design/drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
• Under the general direction of a higher-level Designer/Drafter, the incumbent at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.
• Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
• Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
• Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings. Understands how to read orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications: Requirements:
• High school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred, as well as 2-4 years of experience with Microstation. 3D experience preferred.
• Requirements include PC literacy, a working knowledge of CAD, and a working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments.
