Assists with documentation of structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Assists with development, maintenance and modification of payload system and component designs (i.e. galleys, lavatories, stow bins, etc.), using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools CATIA v5 and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product life cycle. Assist in the qualification of interior design commodities. Help support installation of designs into the airplane. Knowledge of commercial aircraft certification and/or experience with ENOVIA and Product Data Manager (PDM) is helpful. Works under close supervision.

Competencies
General• Adaptability
Tries to understand changes in work-group tasks, situations, and the department as well as the logic or basis for change; occasionally seeks information about changes affecting their individual job. Treats changes and new situations as opportunities for learning or growth; focuses on the beneficial aspects of change; speaks positively about the change to fellow work group members. Quickly modifies behavior to deal effectively with changes in the work environment; readily tries new approaches appropriate for new or changed situations; does not persist with ineffective behaviors.
• Continuous Improvement
With guidance from others, reviews routine processes to identify gaps between requirements and current outputs within own work group. Generally identifies potential conditions that contribute to gaps or key variances; tries to explore relationships between conditions and effects; distinguishes causes from symptoms and identifies causes. Occasionally generates basic ideas for solutions; analyzes the effect or impact of each solution on own work group; selects appropriate solutions. Generally tests solutions; gathers feedback on effectiveness; reviews impact on baseline measures; modifies solutions as appropriate to ensure effectiveness.
• Systems Thinking
Gains understanding of job tasks and processes and how they contribute to meeting work group objective(s). Identifies non-value-adding tasks and alerts more experienced employees for possible improvements. Participates in changes to job/role structures and processes as directed by supervisor.
Technical• Certification & Qualification
Basic knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Basic ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.
• Computer Aided Design Tools
Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).
• Engineering Drawings & Specs
Basic ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Engineering Processes
Basic knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics). Basic knowledge of the interaction between departments/ disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business).
• Payloads Systems
Basic knowledge of payload systems and problems.
