Job Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of MRI Operations, MRI Medical Director and Medical Director, 1919 Santa Monica Imaging Center and the incumbent produces diagnostic images of brain, spinal cord, head and neck region, chest, heart, abdomen, pelvis, large joints and other areas of the human anatomy and vasculature utilizing Magnetic Resonance Imaging Equipment. Performs basic scan protocols and advanced protocols (i.e. MR Angiography, MR Spectroscopy, MR Interventional and EPI imaging). Ensures performance of imaging procedures are in accordance with Department policies and procedures. Competently performs the MRI procedure on neonates, infants, children, teens, adults and geriatric patients to provide physician with diagnostic results. Operates various MedRad power injectors to properly load, prescribe and dispense IV contrast material under the direct supervision of a radiologist. Performs Venipuncture for the administration of paramagnetic contrast material in accordance with department policy and procedure. Verifies archives and transmits scan data utilizing GE Centricity PACSNET workstations. Films hard copy or burns CD of exams as requested. Processes and maintains accurate current records as directed. Responsible for accurate and timely completion of patient documentation. Initiates proper requests for required maintenance or repair of equipment devices. Operates the Radiology Information System for patient registration and tracking. Operates the Hospital Information System for patient registration, alpha paging, submission of web based payroll/timesheets, and submission of event reports and review of Medical Center policies. Maintains a clean safe and orderly work area and patient care area. Instructs and in-services student technologists and staff technologists. Encourages, promotes and initiates processes, activities which work toward achieving service excellence in the Department of Radiology and the UCLA Enterprise.
Job Qualifications:
Current CRT, Radiography and Fluoroscopy and ARRT, R is required and ARRT, MR certification is preferred. Current certification in CPR and Venipuncture is required. Skill in reading documents written in standard English such as technical procedure manuals, operator documents, medical documents, policy and procedure manuals and other written materials. Ability to interpret clinical data provided on a requisition and adjust technical scan parameters as indicated. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, patients and the public. Demonstrated knowledge of basic magnetic resonance imaging including Clinical MR technology (abdominal, breast, cardiovascular, chest, musculoskeletal, neuroscience, pediatric), MR physics, magnetic field safety, cross sectional anatomy and patient care in a clinical diagnostic setting. Demonstrated knowledge of advanced magnetic resonance imaging including: Ultrafast/EPI scan techniques, MR Angiography/MRA, MR Spectroscopy/MRS, MR Guidance/Intervention, post processing (MIP’s, ADC maps, 3-D reconstructions) via various workstations. Working knowledge of basic sterile procedure and nursing skills. Demonstrated skill in set up and operation of Med Rad power injectors, Medrad or Invivo Patient Vital Signs Monitors and Medrad Infusion System. Demonstrated knowledge of magnetic field safety established guidelines to follow when procedures are contraindicated. Demonstrated knowledge of QC program measures to maintain ACR accreditation. 2 years experience working on Siemens Magnetom Avanto, or Espree 1.5T MR Scanner and or a Siemens 3.0T Trio, Verio MR Scanner is preferred.
